Information and Management of Registrations Made in Safe Creative
When you register a creation in Safe Creative, you can select the type of information you wish to provide about it. We offer five ways to show the information of the registrations made, allowing users to choose according to their privacy and sharing needs:
*What is public information?
The public information of the registration includes the name of the work, the author or rights holders, and the declared rights reservation. This information can be shared via URL or informational tags generated by each registration, with the goal of informing, deterring, and preventing misuse.
Management of Registrations:
The management of registrations, available to users with an active subscription or who have made an individual payment in the last 12 months, allows the download of technical proofs, certificates, and the making of modifications in the declared license or the type of registration information displayed.
In the " DRAFTS" area you can save ideas, sketches, drafts, notes, fragments that you generate as part of the creative process of a work.
Safe Creative generates a time stamp for each draft at the moment of its incorporation in this area, which will later reinforce the proof of authorship constituted in the registration of the final work, as it will be reinforced by the contributions of these fragments of the creative process on dates prior to the completion of the work.
Once the work has been registered, the previously contributed sketches may be attached and the certificate of the creative process will be available.
Once a work is registered neither the title, author or content of it can be modified as the registration proof is based in the fact that “that” is the precise works that was registered at a specific time and UTC time.
However, any modification is susceptible of new registration, though it is recommendable not to create confusion to the possible users by registering too many times the same work with no substantial changes. Whenever the author of a work makes any kind of change on it and registers it again, it becomes a “derived work”, by most copyright laws.
It is possible to register rectifications on registrations made as well as versions using advanced accounts. In these cases, new registration proofs are generated with their own registration code, fingerprints and time stamps. In the case of rectifications and versions there is an internal link between the records that can be seen publicly if the registrations are all public.
Regards the title of a modified work and registered again, the Law does not prohibit to keep the same title as the first version.
It could be that two works from different authors have the same title. In that case, Intellectual Property Laws usually state that a title is only protected whenever it’s original. Is quite commons and perfectly legal that two authors have each one a song with the same title “The Dawn”. On the other hand a title containing, for instance, the name of one of the main characters of a the book like “Alice in Wonderland” would be considered as original and thus protected by copyright laws.
What you can change:
To change the image shown of a work, go to "Registrations" and click on the image or the title of the record. Then, click on the icon that on the registration card indicates "Change previous image". You will be asked to upload a new image from our computer, or you can use the generic image for the work.
The code reservation allows you to obtain the registration information tags in advance, which can be attached to the file containing the work and thus upload the resulting file in a last step.
This functionality is usually used for registrations that allow downloading of the original file.
The work will appear in "REGISTRATIONS" marked as "Reserved code", by clicking on it we access to the edition of the work and go to the "files" section to upload it.
Important: The UTC date and time stamp of the registration will be completed with the UTC date and time when the file was uploaded. the file has been uploaded and when the registration is firm.
This is a personal and corporate functionality: See prices.

What are metadata?
Metadata are pieces of information that are internally included in a digital file. This data can be accessed with specific programs for this purpose and allows for the retrieval of relevant information about the file.
Including Rights Information in the Work File:
Safe Creative offers the possibility of generating and downloading a copy of the file with registration information. This option is active in the advanced registration services for some types of files and works, such as images and audio. Keep in mind that the file with metadata consumes your storage space because it makes a copy of the registered file, but with modifications in the file's own data.
Files with compatible image types: .gif, .png, .jpeg, .jpeg2000, .tiff, .psd, and .pdf.
Compatible audio files: mp3.
Information included in IMAGES:
- The title of the work, the name of the author or authors, and the link to the page of its registration (URL). Thus, it will always be possible to consult the updated information on the rights of the work. The link to the Safe Creative registration page is a pointer to the address where the information is located. In the copy, and visibly, the link to the public information page of the registration in Safe Creative is also displayed.
- Metadata with information that is included internally in the digital file are also maintained.
Metadata exported using standard nomenclature:
- Title of the work: Dublin Core: title
- Author/s: In authorship inscriptions (not in rights-only) Dublin Core: creator and in pdf files also in the author field.
- URL rights information: Dublin Core: rights and XMP-Rights: webStatement
- Work code: IPTC Core v1.1 extension for XMP: regItemId
- Registration organization: IPTC Core v1.1 extension for XMP: regOrgId (Pointing to http://www.safecreative.org)
Information included in AUDIO FILES:
- A copy of the mp3 file with the same audio is created, and in ID3 version 1 includes: the title if it is empty and the comment informing of the registration in Safe Creative with the code.
- In ID3 version 2.4 includes: the title if it is empty, the copyright field, and the copyright link field pointing to the public registration page in Safe Creative.
Download:
- On the registration management screen, go to the "Work" tab. In "Files," a link "Original with registration information" will be available to generate it if it has not been marked to be generated automatically at registration. If it has been marked before, the file with metadata can be downloaded.
At the time of registration, by selecting in the type of registration "Public registration with download allowed," you can decide whether the download file on the public information page will be the original or the copy with metadata. This can also be done with several works at the same time, by selecting them in the list of works and choosing the corresponding joint editing action for all of them.
The statistics service shows free of charge general information about visits of all the registered works, or a specific work, by marking and filtering the data set by activating the “selected” one.
Professional and corporate subscription adds more statistic information to the basic service:
How to send a cease and desist notification?
From the menu of each registered work, you can send a cease and desist notification if it has been plagiarized or used in an allegedly unlawful manner. An automatic letter will be sent to the alleged infringer requesting them to stop such activity.
To carry out the sending, you need to obtain the email address of the alleged infringer. They will receive an email with a link that will allow them to respond. If they respond, you will also receive a notification by email, and once you have received such a response, you can evaluate new actions to take.
IMPORTANT: Before using this utility, we recommend that you seek advice from a lawyer.
This service is not offered for basic registrations.
